Been a LONG TIME!

Hi, Everyone!

Wow! I can’t believe we are soon approaching the year 2012. I don’t know where the time has gone! It has been a bit hectic lately. What can I fill you in on? I recently had Pneumonia and I did not think it would take this long to recover. I am back to feeling good, but still feel tired and because I have not been at the gym for over two weeks, my energy is on the low side. I NEED to get back into shape. I actually feel pretty good weight wise, but not toned. Okay, enough about ME.

My business is now into the THIRD year, the end of Nov. marked my second year anniversary and I am gathering some great products to make a gift basket full of goodies for ONE lucky winner, so stay tuned for the giveaway sometime this New Year.  If any baby companies out there are interested in donating any products and becoming a potential vendor that I order from, simply email me at: info@startingoutsmall.com as soon as possible to let me know what you have to offer.

My youngest child is a sweet, adorable, funny, YET very mischievous little girl. I have a LOT of fun with her, but oh, boy, does she keep me on my toes. Some of the things she has done, I just can’t even blog about, because it is hard to believe and truthfully, makes me look like a “bad momma” so I will skip those few things, but she has become kind of tricky lately and she is not even 3!  She speaks up a storm and has an answer for everything. I DO love her curiosity though and the fact that she wants to know everything, she soaks up everything like a sponge and I can’t pull the wool over her eyes about ANYTHING!  The other day, she told me “You look beautiful, like a princess!” I was not dressed in my usual attire of jeans and a black shirt, so I must have looked like I was going to a royal ball. I took the compliment and thanked her.  I believe I was just going out to dinner with my hubby (which we rarely get a chance to do).

I remember when I was an early childhood teacher I would often jot down all the funny and cute things my students would say, I thought to create a book about the funny things my Kindergarteners said, but never got around to it. Though I do still have the material. I never threw it out and my “first students” are in college now and I am NOT that old!!! (but it makes me feel old!)  I should start doing that with my children. They say the cleverest things!  My older daughter said to me today, “I am SO happy I have her”. She was talking about her little sister. Even though they are 8 1/2 years apart, it is her only sister with a brother in between for both of them and she said, “I don’t even remember what it was like not having her”. I responded that is what it is like when you love someone so much, you can’t remember life before them. She does add so much to our lives and I feel truly blessed to have three terrific kids!  What are you thankful for before the year ends?

It is nice to be writing again…I am sorry it has been so long. What have you all been up to lately? Happy 2012! Wishing everyone a healthy, happy New year filled with lots of success, blessings and love!

Okay, we are all well aware of the saying, all it takes is a few minutes…well, my daughter “accomplished” a LOT in just a couple of minutes alone in the kitchen. I often “leave” my almost two year old in a room if she is eating a snack or playing with her toys in a safe area. I had to go and send an email at my computer (which is located in my husband and my bedroom). In the few minutes that I was away, and my daughter was (what I thought) eating her lunch and snack in the kitchen while watching the under the counter TV, my daughter got a hold of the PLEDGE furniture polish that I bought at Costco yesterday with her (it was a 3 package one, but I had tucked the other two neatly out of her reach under the sink with a lock on it). The other one, I planned to clean the furniture with in the living room. Of course, SHE got to it before I had the chance.

What ensued next, you can clearly see by my photos that I took shortly after the disaster occurred. It felt like a snowstorm in our kitchen!

I know I have no one to blame but myself, I should NEVER have left it on the counter, I also know how curious my child is, as are most 2-3 year old children. I EVEN heard noises, but I “assumed” (I should never have assumed, because it makes “an ass out of you and me”) that she was just playing with the faucet in the bathroom. She often likes to wash her hands for  L O N G periods of time, BUT, when it was a noise every second, I quickly zoomed downstairs, realizing it was some type of SPRAY and NOT water!!!!

Of course, I needed to explain to her why what she did was not a good thing and that I should not have left it out. These are cleaning supplies, they have chemicals, etc. and they are POISON. I had to immediately wash her hands and rinse her face, luckily she did not get it all over her, just everything else!!!

What a mess! Plus, Pledge, being the furniture polish that it is, leaves a thick residue and is not an easy thing to clean up. In fact, I better go back and make sure it is thoroughly cleaned up before Thanksgiving! Not what you want RIGHT before the holidays, what can you do?! At least my kitchen is lemony fresh!

Enjoy your Thanksgiving, take time to appreciate all the good things in your lives and I too, will look back someday at this and laugh…just maybe not in the next five minutes!

link Hot Nail Polish Colors for a great cause!

This past summer, I was reading an article in the 201 Magazine (Bergen County, NJ monthly magazine) and was very impressed by one girl’s ambition and desire to keep her father’s memory alive and raise money for an important cause.

A young girl, Phoebe, just 16, came up with an idea to sell bright, vibrant colored nail polish to raise money for cancer research. When she was only 11 years old, her father was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. He was always inventing one thing or another and always had a smile until the end. He had laughter and never gave up. To honor her father and “follow” in his path of inventor, she created a line of nail polishes that do not have the harmful chemicals that many have and created a great name COLOR ME CURED. I just felt since October which was last month just passed and it was Cancer Awareness month, I wanted to mention this great site and let those who are interested know about it and how the money you spend on this site will help fund cancer research and goes directly to Sloan Kettering in NYC. My daughter, who happens to have just turned 11 this past summer really liked her story too (as well as nail polish).

Take a look at this site. She has some great products. Happy shopping!

link October is Breast Cancer awareness month!

A percentage of sales this month is going towards cancer research, so each sale we make, is helping out others, please come and check out our baby gifts and accessories. We ship usually next day, but we are a family owned and operated business (stay at home Mom with three kids) so if I can’t do it next day, it will definitely be within two-three days maximum.

We have some great new products and some best sellers such as the snackTAXI reusable sandwich and snack bags, Pacimals (but we are completely sold out, so stay tuned for new ones coming soon hopefully), minky burp cloth sets, diaper diddies and our plush gift sets. Oh, our Trumpette sock sets are still on sale for only $18 a set plus we have lowered our shipping costs and, as always FREE SHIPPING over $75.00.

Our Kuff-Its by the Buti Bag Company are currently on sale for a great price, only $12 to “extend” your pants or simply add a flair to your pants, both in girl & boy styles.

There is a new fun way to enhance your kids’ pants with kuff-its iron-on pant cuffs! Put them on to add some length or just to add some cuteness.

Kuffs are currently available in 6 great styles of fabulous cotton prints and solids.

You just need an iron and scissors with no sewing at all!

Currently, they are adjustable and generously sized to fit kids’ pants from 0-5T;

PLEASE NOTE: Kuff-its are PERMANENT once applied with a proprietary industrial strength heat-fusible bonding tape! This is not your regular, run-of-the mill sewing store hem tape. It’s specifically made to bond our fabrics to yours and not come off (but you gotta follow our instructions closely to get a good fuse)!

Recommended for woven material pants, such as twill khakis and jeans; not recommended to apply on knits as knits can stretch and loosen the iron-on adhesive over time.

100% Cotton shell. Machine wash/dry or dry clean.

Until next time, ciao and have a great rest of the week!
