I was looking through some of our pictures and came across these. It was our FIRST real vacation with our two kids (at the time). We were suppose to go to Virginia Beach, but in August of 2008, there was a terrible hurricane sweeping the area, so we decided NOT to make the 10 hour drive from our home and do something else.

I really wanted the warm weather and since August in the East Coast can be “iffy” we used some free miles we had and flew to Las Vegas, Nevada. Sounds funny for a “FAMILY” trip, right? It is actually a great place to go with family. There happens to be many families who go there. I had been there alone once, twice with my hubby and each time had a super time. I do happen to like the slot machines and playing Black Jack and also watching some of the big time rollers. It is truly like you are in another world when you are in all of the casinos on the Las Vegas strip.

We took the kids and stayed at the Flamingo Hotel, it happened to have been a crowd of college kids at the time, so swimming in the pool was quite interesting; not sure my kids realized that many of the men and women were drinking alcohol, beer, etc. but they enjoyed swimming in these cool pools with waterfalls, etc. My son was actually talking the ear of this girl and her boyfriend; it was actually quite amusing, I thought the boyfriend was going to be so annoyed when my son wouldn’t stop talking…but he seemed OK about it. He was only 5 at the time.

We went to RED ROCK CANYON, kind of like a mini Grand Canyon (which we had not gone to, we didn’t have enough time) but I would LOVE to go back with them at some point. We took some fun pictures there, see above. (one I played with the colors on Photo Shop)…can you guess which one?

I am quite tired of this cold, snowy, rainy and windy weather…it has been a BAD WINTER, I am ready for spring, flowers, WARM weather, etc. Who is with me? So, since I am not going to Vegas anytime soon, please bring the fun in the sun to me!
