I can’t believe I have been so bad about my blogging. How do other busy at home or work at home moms manage to find time? I am lucky if I get dressed first thing in the morning; in fact, I took my hubby to the bus stop this morning in my PJ’s along with my toddler….in her PJ’s and boots. (that is what she wanted to wear, even though there is no snow right now).  I am thrilled when I can get the dishes in the sink washed, the beds made, the laundry folded and put away and know what I will make for dinner. Beyond that, it is all extra.  I love to snuggle and nap with my baby, but lately she does not want to nap, don’t tell me she is giving up my nap, er…umm…I mean, her nap! :) what is a mother to do? I live for that time where I often nap alongside her for about an hour, then I go and do my stuff around the house, pay bills, check emails, tidy up, etc. Oh well, stages of childhood…Some day, she will go to Pre-school! I know she will LOVE it, in fact, of my three children, she has been home with me the longest. My other two were already in school by their 2nd birthday. But, she is a January baby, so…plus, our expenses are high here so she will be with me again this year, go to school at 3.

Okay, so last night, I went and “fixed up” my daughter’s project…I am not so sure she will be all that thrilled with me. She is doing a major STATES project in her fifth grade class. She chose Las Vegas, NV. She has to come in costume and she decided to dress up as a “hotel”. She chose the Flamingo Hotel. (we went there on vacation a few summers ago and they have fond memories of it). However, she needed a little touching up. I KNOW she is going to notice and say “Mom, you did not add the correct shade of PINK”. What can I say? She was right. I could not get it correct, but it needed another coat; I tried the best I could, really… She also had to choose a FOOD of that state to give out…she decided to get ONION RINGS! Ha ha…the potato chip kind…why? Because she told me (I did not know) that Nevada’s natural resource was ONIONS. LOL! Our kids sure know more than we do!

As I snuck downstairs after my daughter had gone up to bed, I had this sense of joy at being her mother. I felt like THIS IS WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A MOTHER, caring to make your child’s projects a good one, helping them out when you know they feel overwhelmed. I typed up her writing assignment last night b/c she has a difficult time typing it up…she was so relieved. Isn’t it our job to make their lives easier? I know my own mother has always done just that! I am so thankful to have her in my life, even as I am an adult, mother, wife and have children….we ALWAYS need our mothers…I am so grateful to have mine. I speak to her daily…or at least almost daily.

I can’t believe it is SPRING but still feels so chilly. I am in dire need of sunshine, warmth and high degrees. I can’t stand bundling up anymore and when the weather forecast sometimes still discusses the four letter word, S N O W, I almost want to scream! NO, enough already. I am sure you all share my sentiments!
