link Why can't there be more people like Jay Shafer?

I came across this video of a man who decided he wanted to build and live in a small (actually TINY) house.  How many of us can actually say I WANT to live minimally? So many of us (I have to see, even I have been faulty of) want MORE and to have bigger and better. But, honestly, what do we really need?

Jay Shafer obviously didn’t feel he needed that much. I tell you, with all the organizing I do and try to do on my house, I would have very little space to keep things in HIS house, maybe I would be better off! LOL.

Perhaps, Jay has a good message for all of us out there, it is not the material things that make our life happy, it is WHAT we do with our life that makes us happy. We all think making more money will make us happy, perhaps it will make life easier for our children, to pay bills, etc. but do we really need all that?

Anyway, just my philosophical self talking out loud right now. I WISH I could be like Jay, but I am not sure I could…I do believe it is also different when you are ONE person vs. a family of 5 or more….or even two or three…

I do have to say, he makes a nice home; for a person who was a grocery clerk and had no prior building experience, he did a fine job on such a small home. I can’t believe his electric bill for an ENTIRE year is only $100 or less. That is unreal! Maybe I should move out of Bergen county and find out where he is living! :)

Let’s all try to take something away from Jay’s story, be it that we spend more time with our kids, do a hobby that makes us happy or teach someone something; there is more to life than buying bigger and better.

In “honor” of Jay Shafer and his renewed sense of self and being, we are selling our snackTAXI reusable sandwich bags and snack bags at a great price for this week ONLY…I felt like throwing a little NATURE into the mix for this week…he inspired me! Come and check them out! They are eco friendly, easy to clean, pack and very durable. Oh, also very safe for children and excellent for anyone, young and old…adorable styles and we will be getting more in too.

That is it for now…

Product Review: Organic Wimzik onesies for babies:

I was fortunate to get in touch with a wonderful woman named Kristen who is a graphic designer as well as a mom of two children. A practical, yet creative mom, Kirsten went on to create something useful for babies yet also friendly for our environment. She came up with the idea of adorable onesies made from fairly traded 100% certified organic cotton and packaged using recycled materials. They have a sweet little design of an animal on it and it says the sound of the animal. For example, mine was a beautiful pumpkin color and it has a sheep on it and it says baa. With her ideas, her new business began. You can see all her designs on her website: http://wimzikbaby.com/Our-Products.html

So, I was delighted when my sample arrived for me to try out on my baby girl who is now 13 months. I opted for size 18 months since my baby is a little on the plumpy side; I figured going up rather than down would be best. It arrived in an adorable eco-friendly package tied with a raffia ribbon. I was very impressed how nice it looked and would be to give as a gift for someone special. The organic cotton is so soft and looked absolutely adorable on my daughter. I took a couple pictures of her in it. You can see them here:

On the go…as usual!
